Irony

I love irony.

Japanese Word of the Day #238

Note: It‘s おばあさん (obaasan) when refering to another family's grandmother. The word 祖母 (sobo) is used to refer to your own grandmother.

Anime Recommendation: Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人 Shingeki no Kyojin, lit. "Advancing Giants") is a Japanese anime series based in a manga written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama -who is only 28 years old. It is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by enormous walls due to the Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. The story centers on Eren Yeager, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert, whose lives are changed forever after the appearance of a Colossus Titan brings about the destruction of their home town and the death of Eren's mother. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren, Mikasa and Armin enlist in the Military and join the Scout Regiment—an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls.

Bellow is a brief interview with Attack on titan creator. Isayama explained that he came up with the idea for the manga because he lived in a rural Japanese town surrounded by mountains and one day he wanted to go beyond the mountains, which reflects in the town surrounded by walls in his manga. The program reveals that he is a huge fan of idol group Momoiro Clover Z!
