4 Times Deutschland!

Congratulations Germany! I think the best team won this World Cup. German team was always kind to Brazilians and enjoyed Brazil while they stayed in the country. While teams like English and Italian were complaining about the heat and the organization in Brazil right from the moment they landed in the country, German team didn’t complain about nothing (at least publicly) and they came determined to win this World Cup. It was the victory of the best soccer nowadays.

World Cup Semi-Finals

So this is basically what happened between Brazil and Germany at the World Cup. 7x1 is a soccer score? Or tennis score?

FIFA's 2014 World Cup Starts Today!

Today is the beginning of the 2014 FIFA's World Cup in Brazil!
What is strange is the fact that there isn’t that feeling of World Cup in the air here. Maybe it's because the World Cup was flooded with controversy. Loads of public money was spent to build modern stadiums while other needs such as the improvement of Brazil’s public education and health care were neglected. Not to mention Brazil's poor infrastructure.

Anyhow, Brazilians love parties and soccer, so I believe the mood will change from today.

In my opinion, the favorites to win this World Cup are Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Spain and France. Brazil has a good team and will have the local fans support, which need to be considered. The biggest problem in Brazil’s national team are the strikers. Neymar is still very young and inexperienced. And Fred and Hulk are just not that reliable. Well, let’s wait and see.

Anime Recommendation: Detroit Metal City

Soichiro Negishi is a music obsessed young teen, making the jump from his rural hometown to the big city of Tokyo. His goal is to become a successful musician. Negishi has a love for indie twee pop. Unfortunately for Soichiro Negishi he fails miserably in gaining any type of following for his music. Then one day he spots a flier for a music agency looking to recruit musicians. With his home-burned CD in hand, he enters the music agency’s office.
Fast forward a few more months and Negishi is now the front man for an up-and-coming band. Unfortunately for him, the band is an ultra-heavy death metal band that sings about satanism, rape, & murder…

There is also a live action movie, but the movie is terrible.

When you get older (part 2)

I just remembered another music video that is actually a homage to a 1962 french film directed by François Truffaut. It is called Jules and Jim.

When You Get Older

After all these years I have finally understood the references in these two music videos that I used to watch on MTV. It was when M still meant "music" and  music itself was better. At that time I didn't know anything about Italian Neo-Realism or French New Wave.
Linger is a homage to Jean-Luc Godard's "Alphaville" and "Everybody Hurts" is a homage to Federico Fellini's "81/2".
I'm not a fan of Godard's movies. I do recognize that he writes great dialogues though. I like Fellini's works and my favorite movie is "I Vitelloni".
It is hard to believe that these music videos were made more than 20 years ago.
